A Meta-Post: Part II

Readers,
As the semester comes to a close, I have been charged with the task of reviewing my work as a blogger, and then writing about what I learned, or did not learn, about writing. And seeing as a blog post about what I didn't learn as writer would be both boring and pointless, it is fortunate that I think I have learned a lot.
What I have realized from re-reading my posts, and from articles that I have read for them, is that length is everything. Managing the length of a post is essential. If I have a boring topic, then I should be looking to keep that blog very short, because no one wants to read the equivalent of a three page essay on something they have no interest for. Blogs like those should be kept succinct, the point made quickly and clearly. However, some topics need to be given length, either because they are touchy subjects or simply require more thought. With topics like these, one may have to sacrifice being extremely interesting for deep thought.
Another skill I believe I have strengthened is how to keep a neutral voice. Staying neutral is extremely important with all types of writing. The ability to address both sides, and not let personal opinions go too far, really shows a good blogger I think. From blogging about Westboro Baptist Church, and an article about men and women, I have learned that despite what my bias might be, I have tried to keep from putting an absolute opinion on the internet. You never know who might be offended.
(The blog I would like you to take a look at is "Take Heart Men, the End is in Sight")
